Brief History of the Dan Charles Agency

The Dan Charles Agency was founded in 1928 by Mr. Dan Charles who was previously the main buyer of newsprint for Hearst Publications

The agency was started as a manufacturer representative, selling consumable supplies to the pulp and paper industry

Dan ran the agency until his death in 1948 then his wife Vernice took over until 1952

Vernice’s brother Norm McCurdie took over as president in 1959 until he retired in 1968 when Vic Risley assumed the president’s position

Vic retired in 1989 and Tom Wilson took over as president.

In 2012 Dave Cozzens acquired the agency and assumed the president’s position

Today, we are still one of the main representatives for products to the pulp and paper industry as well as other industries. 

We provide service and sales for the eleven western United States and the four western Canadian Provinces

We specialize in servicing steam joint and siphon assemblies, internal dryer inspections, doctor blades and doctor assemblies, rope sheave audits and sheave replacement, refiner plates and refiner work

We also consign consumable products in our warehouse in Vancouver, WA to make sure we can deliver items to the mills on an as needed basis
